Who are we?

We are who we choose to be, long before we even decide,
We are the ocean and the tide.
We are infinite seeds of promise growing everyday,
We are our own problems of today.
We are immortality housed in mortal bodies;
We are paintings, we are stories.
We are beautiful and we are kind,
We are angels so divine,
We are monsters weak of heart,
We are countless works of art.
We are selfish and afraid,
We are rulers, and we are maids.
We are kings and we are queens,
We are everything, in between.
We find ourselves when we are lost,
We are wary of all life's costs.
We are frightened, we are brave,
We are masters, and we are slaves.
We are creatures large and tall,
Creatures wide and small,
Killing a race that's the only one of its kind,
We are our own predators of mankind.
We are mysterious and poetically deep,
We are so easily hurt,
We are wolves, we are sheep.
We are each our own enemy,
Each our own lover,
We are a thousand secrets hiding undercover.
We are every colour, every shade of the rainbow
And then some more;
We are little specks of dust, drifting evermore.
We are free and simple truth,
We are innocent and most beautiful in our youth.
We are masqueraders dancing for all to see,
We are broken dolls in privacy.
We are performers, we are artists,
We are anything we choose to be,
We are scientists, we are dreamers,
Men of creativity.
We destroy more than we create,
We don't give as much as we often take.
We are music, we are rhymes,
And we are actors all the time.
We are filled and we are empty,
We are soldiers with a duty.
We are stories, we are each a fleeting moment,
We are pictures framed in torment.
We are quiet, we are peace,
We are warlike creatures, and we are beasts.
We are children till our last breath,
We are aged by our regret.
We are bold, we are scared,
We are the only animals to be feared.
We are the morning, we are the night,
We are candles in the darkness, burning bright.
We are freedom, we are honour,
We are heroes, men of valor.
We are oceans, we are miles,
We are mountains, and we are smiles.
We are birds, flying free;
We are pearls in the sea.
We are sand and we are dirt,
We're the ugliest part of planet earth.
We are sweet, we are morbid,
We are clean, and we are sordid.
We are gentle, we are harsh,
And we are tomorrows stuck in the past.
We are hope, we are faith,
And we are loving words sometimes too late.
We are castles built so high;
We are winds, just passing by.
We are tears and we are hurt,
We are crying, since our birth.
We are all these things and a million more;
We are sea shells washed upon life’s shore.
We are hills and we are roads,
We are camels bearing loads.
We are deserts, we are streams,
We are stars, and we are dreams.
We are rivers, we are trees,
We are fountains, and we are leaves.
We are fields, we are springs,
And we are rulers of everything.
We are roses, red and pretty,
We are faces, shy and witty.
We are rocks and we are grass,
We are fortunes that never last.
We are clouds and we are the moon,
We are just visitors, leaving soon.
We are pride and we are love,
We are believers of him above.
We are countries rich and poor,
We are desires which long for more.
We are air, we are fire,
And we are machines which never tire.
We are vision, we are blind,
And we are memories etched in time.
We are everything we choose to be,
But in the end, who are we?
