“When you do things from your soul, you feel a river
moving in you, a joy.
When actions come from another section, the feeling
disappears.
Don’t let others lead you.
They may be blind or, worse, vultures.
Reach for the rope of God.” ~ Rumi
Moving Water
Until the End of Time
“I live and I desire”.
If I should find you one day,
In some magical moment in time,
I’ll thank the heavens for its direction,
To a place, that is neither yours nor mine.
For these shores have no recollection,
Of either you or I,
I go searching for a memory,
Where the oceans touch the sky.
So if perchance, you make it here
But I’ve left and gone somewhere,
I hope you find a way to me,
If life whispers it’s our destiny.
So until that day, I’ll traverse the fields of longing,
In search of a place that was made for two,
And hope someday you stumble upon my heart and soul,
And know these were the things I thought best to leave to you.
This Fire Grows Higher
There’s a rumour in my mind,
A secret trapped in time,
A confession still unspoken,
A vow that can’t be broken,
And it says,
You’re the one.
There’s a burning in my soul,
A fragment missing from the whole,
And it says,
You’re the one.
There’s a silence still to shatter,
Pride that doesn’t matter,
An ego that’s burnt down,
And it says,
You’re the one.
I thought…
“My heart has burned with passion and has searched forever for
this wondrous beauty that I now behold.” Rumi
I thought beauty was the sunset bidding goodbye at evening’s end,
Until I saw you smile and make the sun retreat in shame.
I thought kindness was a stranger’s helping hand,
Until you wiped my tears and nudged me forward.
I thought love was a lifetime of friendship and courtship,
Until your soul spoke in silence and I understood.
I thought distance was a great divide,
Until I realized oceans of separation brought me peace.
I thought I had finished painting my portrait of life,
Until I realized your colours weren’t used in the greater picture.
I thought I had reached the end of my journey,
Until I saw life waiting in the distance.

“Man is free at the moment he wishes to be”. Voltaire
You think I’ve given up and I’m ready to fall,
But im just getting ready to fly.
You think you can ridicule me a thousand times and weaken my spirit,
But how can man try to conquer the universe?
You think you can ruin my resolve and cage my soul?
But there are no barriers and boundaries for a wild horse.
You are the past trying to govern the future
But you have been dethroned.
For tomorrow has spoken and a new order has arisen,
It is no longer bound by jealousy and malice.
Life has come and spoken the new rule,
You cannot own what was never yours
And you cannot contain what will never be.
Eternity
“To love another person is to see the face of God”. Victor Hugo
I have glimpsed the eyes of God in your eyes,
I have experienced his greatness kneeling before you,
I have seen spirit take shape by seeing your hardwork,
I have known love, just by your words.
I have learnt history just by watching you,
I have touched the heart of life just by listening to you.
The soul of the universe has whispered to me,
And directed me to a higher purpose,
Because of your teachings.
And if anyone should ask, what is divinity?
I’ll point to you,
If anyone should say show me kindness,
Ill direct them to your steps.
Because in you, resides the Supreme,
In God, you reside.
You are the beauty of the universe,
You are warmth and loyalty.
You are legacies, tradition, proud and unchanged.
You are god and goddess,
Mother and Father,
You are the eternal that lives in me.
Dedicated to Talvin Singh’s-Light
“Music is an outburst of the soul”. Frederick Delius
I sat in awe, silenced, humbled and fascinated
By the talent in your work,
So effortless and smooth,
Like silk clinging to the body,
With such abandonment yet with such precision,
Your music fits life’s beautiful rhythm.
Every piece composed by the genius in you,
Was written to bring listeners to their knees,
And for once the mind can’t do justice,
Because no words formed can applaud the unimagined you’ve brought to life.
And so the soul must intervene and shed some tears,
And let it be known that eternity has finally spoken.
Traveller
” I wish to be a traveller not only to behold the secrets of the world but to appease the longings of the soul”. K.Sirjusingh
I want to follow beauty, not that I may be like her,
But that I may understand her ways.
I want to walk with sorrow not to ridicule him,
But that I may reassure and offer comfort.
I want to face my inner demons and ghosts,
And realize my greatest enemy conquers from within.
I want to walk alone, along the unknown path,
So that I may reach the mountain top of introspection.
I want to pursue happiness with pain to remind me of my blessings.
I want to look upon the dawn of a new day,
And then kneel in gratitude at his creations,
Knowing I am connected to the whole.
I want to observe silence that the untamed in me
Might be subdued through discipline.
I want to call him my other half,
Who accepts in me what is also him,
And respects what isn’t.
I want to live with brothers and sisters of different tongues,
And be understood through words and deeds of love.
I want to look upon a stranger and recognize the infinite in him,
And then look upon my own being and realize my own infinite within.
Picture Perfect
“Said the stranger to the dreamer: Who affects how successful you are in this world”?
Said the dreamer to the stranger: I am the gatekeeper of my own greatness”. K.Sirjusingh
If you wish to be blessed, be a blessing to someone,
If you would be forgiven, forgive your enemy
For many of his shortcomings may be yours reflected.
If you wish to find love, stumble upon it yielding like a blossoming flower,
Do not try to dictate its time or place.
If you seek friendship, first delight in your solitude,
You have much to learn and love about yourself.
If you are in need of sympathy, listen to another man’s plight,
Each man’s garden is full of more weeds than flowers.
If you wish to be great take humility by the hand.
If you wish to be wise, study all men alike,
From the commoner to the king, there are lessons to be learnt.
If your desire should be to have your name remembered,
Make discipline and hardwork your teachers
And let failure also be a motivation,
Never give up or give in, follow where your heart leads you,
No matter how hard the task is or the journey,
You’ll get there when you’re meant to.
Nurture your culture and be a person of good character,
Do not throw away personal ideals, morals and values,
They are the guardians of a healthy, happy life.
To be a part of the solution rather than the problem
Aspire to be a change in the world, however minute.
And no matter what you’ve done or haven’t done,
With all your heart, give thanks for being you,
You were fashioned to achieve greatness.
Spirit.
“The way is not in the sky. The way is in the heart”. Buddha
As a Native American chant confers prosperity,
So too I wish only good fortune upon you.
As the Bhagavad Gita proposes unattachment,
I hope your heart is never bound to anything you do.
As karma recalls all and bestows only what is due upon us,
I pray you may receive only what is deserving and just.
And though life sits upon its throne and preaches never to be fair and forgiving,
I encourage you to immerse yourself in meditation and focus on the Supreme Being.
So if you falter and lose your footing between right and wrong,
The all knowing Creator shall pardon and guide you along.
As religion teaches that you become a brother to all and master of none,
I wish you find a place in this enormous family to share your wisdom.
As work dictates you toil and till to fulfill your God given duty,
I hope that your duty called labour,
Is only that which your heart and hands favour.
And along the journey to fulfill your destiny,
I pray you know kindness, love and loyalty.
Along the way, I dream that you may come to know You,
And that you love yourself unconditionally in all that you do,
And realize you are your greatest treasure till the end,
That you alone are your best friend.
