Intoxicating Derilium

Daylight fled before my eyes and shadows danced around me,
As I surrendered to the seductive night, intoxicated by my misery.
And in the forest of forgetfulness; I slumbered deep and long,
Locked away in sedative thoughts of sweet delirium.

Nestled in the warmth of dying emotion, I awaited sleep and his brother,
Welcoming their arrival, I closed my weary eyes, to the numbing sleep of forever.
Intent on escaping this life of suffering, I allowed my chained heart to be set free,
As death walked into my room and stole the last breath when he kissed me.

And lost to the world of heartbroken nights, I said goodbye,
Exhausted and empty, I was too afraid to cry.
As memories hung in the air, washing over me,
Clinging to my mind, torturing my restive heart of agony.

And I was led away into the whispering night, without a sound,
Leaving behind nothing but a memory so that I could never be found.
And now as I slumber in my garden of distant dream, I smile contentedly,
Looking at the world, knowing that tomorrow can never hurt me.
