Prison of my dream

I watched the evening surrender to the frivolous whisperings of the dark,
As shadows danced around the sun, leading him away with their rhythm of deceit,
As drowsy nights awakened the yearnings of my heart,
The sombre moon stretched forth and tore the night and day apart.
So sad and lonely, I pleaded with the heavens to release me from my agony,
But there was only the response of an eloquent silence,
Where written on the anguished shores were the words of time’s remorse for me,
But the unrepentant waves rushed in and devoured them hungrily.
And the encroaching tide lapped the only condolence from the night,
As the remnants of my hope were swallowed up by the currents of my plight.
But the wind suddenly came to my rescue, upon seeing my despair,
“Tomorrow will be better; the morning will soon be here”,
And she brushed my cheek most soothingly,
As she kissed away each tear.
And morning broke across the horizon in its majesty,
Softening the sky’s formidable façade of willful torment,
As I beheld the respite of day with ardent eyes of expectancy,
Where the cruel murmurings of the sullen night, stilled for a moment.
Then suddenly, the drapes of my delusion lifted from my eyes,
As reality surfaced with memories from the depths of time,
I realized, that the birth of my desire
Had only been impeded by the treachery of my mind.
Where reprieve wasn’t as difficult as it had initially seemed,
For all long I’ve merely been a trapped prisoner,
Living in the torment of my dreams.
