This world of emptiness wrapped by golden wishes,
Is decorated with ribbons and bows of hollow dreams,
Where everything is tagged by a price,
And the most noble of men aren’t always as they seem.
Where sometimes even kindness has a cost,
And leaders trample over their fellow men to get ahead,
Where the world will not stop to mourn the millions of lives lost,
And the frenetic race of life goes on despite those who are dead.
Where malicious men are revered on their pedestals of perfidy,
And avarice and deceit are elected to promote integrity,
Where poisoned hearts and secular minds are wreathed by false dignity,
And the selfless man is swallowed up in crowds of apathy,
Where millions of voices are muted by the unfairness of life,
And the morning won’t grant relief from the bitter night,
Where no man can answer the question of another man's plight,
And only God can save this world from its eternal strife.
